Helping Hands for the Holidays

Lanier’s “Helping Hands for the Holidays” is back!

If you would like to participate by giving gifts for families this holiday season, please come to the counseling office and choose a wish.  Wishes are listed by families; it is hlepful if each family can be sponsored by one person or group of people working together to that there is some equity in gifts received within the family.  (This is not necessary, but is appreciated!)   Once you pick a family/person to sponsor, please write your name next to the family or person (idenitfied as “Family 1, boy 1 age 11, Family 2, girl 2 age 7, etc.) on the sign-up sheet.  Have fun shopping!

  • Gifts are due back on Monday Dec. 12
  • Gifts should be wrapped and well-labeled (i.e. Family 3, boy 2 age 13).  If there is more than one gift for a person, please put all the gifts in a large shopping or trash bag and put the label on the outside of the bag.
  • Gifts for the same family should be placed together in the storage closet (as a counselor for help with this).

Once again – Thank you, and happy holidays!

Report cards go out today!

First quarter report cards are ready to go out in the mail to families!  Please review the report card together and look at it as feedback as to how the first quarter went.  Students who believe they can do better than they did in the first quarter are encouraged to work with teachers during Pride Time and after school to get extra help, or to form evening study groups with friends, or simply to put more time into studying for tests and keeping caught up on homework and projects. Parents, if you have questions or want to discuss how to improve your child’s grade in a class, this is a good time to reach out to contact that teacher, or to be in touch with your child’s counselor.  This is also a good time to discuss at home the study habits needed for middle school, and whether some adjustments need to be made.  For all of our families, whether you are on the A/B honor roll, or whether you are working toward improvements, thank you for partnering with us to toward the goal of academic achievement for all Lanier students.
